Halloween Mantel

For the first time ever - we have a mantel to decorate! And since we've decided against putting our television above the fireplace AND there is a huge cut out area big enough for a big old school television - we have lots of room for Halloween (and other holidays) goodness!! The only hang up was the fact that our cable modem and router are stashed in the television cut out - not very appropriate for Halloween. I found the tattered fabric at the dollar store and am using it in an attempt to hide the plugs. It sorta works...

Oh yeah, ignore the wooden statue of the monkey behind the fabric in the background. We put him up there temporarily to keep him away from B-man and now that all the Halloween stuff is up, I'm too lazy to reach behind everything and move him.

If you've been reading for a little while then a lot of what we used looks familiar. We brought our Spooky Halloween Tree Branch to the new place and rather than hang it on the wall, we used it in the mantel. You can also see my Felt and Yarn Halloween Trees and one of my Free Halloween printables too.

A new project that I whipped up but never blogged about is the framed spider web. Since the frame was missing the glass, it was a whopping .25 at the Habitat For Humanity. I used some orange yarn to weave the web and attached a couple plastic spiders for effect. I'm happy with how it turned out and had planned to make a few more but probably won't have the time this year.

I found two of these jars at Thrift Stores and the "poison" jar at Ross. I plan on filling them with bugs or spiders or something else creepy and crawly.

This guy is new. I think I found him at TJ Maxx...There is a skeleton key attached to a string that you use to count down to the best Holiday of the year!

It still looks like it needs something on the upper right side, but I haven't figured out exactly what just yet... maybe another spider web?
